Volunteer and Adventure in Tanzania
While experiencing the rich natural scenic travel spots and globally famous monuments, you can volunteer in Tanzania. Many international volunteers step inside Tanzania for the first time and entertaining them with the adventurous spirit is essential. Although, these volunteers enter into Tanzania to help the people, who suffer due to ill-health, malnutrition, educational inequalities, geographically isolated areas, food insecurity, and culturally different group, adding a pinch of spice can make the trip more memorable, all through their lifetime.
As a volunteer, apart from applying your skills and knowledge to solve everyday challenges, you would gain crucial international work experience and acquire a great deal of leadership and soft skills, develop your self-reliance and acquire new professional skills.
SEDI co-ordinate interns and volunteer visit into a country, and they can participate into the following projects:
Research Project
This project offers the opportunity volunteer to initiate and participate in economic and social research. Participants will be involved and experience with serious problems of food insecurity, HIV/AIDS, unemployment, and poverty plaguing the beautiful country, research and assistance will go a long way and will make a strong impact on the small-scale farmers, youth, women, schools, and orphanages.
Early Childhood Development
SEDI is a non-government organization that respects and champions the rights of all vulnerable children from farmer’s family regardless of gender and faith. SEDI in partnership with volunteers and sponsors aim to train and provide on-going support to principles and care givers at pre-schools from rural areas. This will improve knowledge and ensure quality education to rural communities.
Social Architecture
SEDI in partnership with students of architecture from international universities facilitates the design and construction of classrooms and libraries to rural schools using sustainable materials.
Bicycles AID FOR Rural children
SEDI targets to distribute bicycles and equipment to under-resources schools in rural communities, changing the lives of many children who would normally work long distance to attend school.
Child-Health Project
This project will be done to improve community knowledge on nutrition by training rural families on how to prepare nutrition food and sensitize mothers and care takers on importance of breast feeding. The project will also support mobile clinic to remote community villages and train farmer’s family on importance and application of modern family planning.
IT for Children
In order to ensure sustainable development to rural family, SEDI provide the basic IT skills for children and youth to gain knowledge, education and confidence so that they can grow as individuals and contribute positively to the development of their communities though technology.
Partners in this project may contribute used laptops and may volunteer in training of basic knowledge of computer to rural children and youth.
“Your old laptop may be the opportunity of a lifetime, please bring to us”
Women Project:
Women are very vital in helping to fight poverty at the grass roots level. The mothers in the village want to ensure the best for their children and household. The women in the community operate a village community bank, which provides loans for women to start income-generation enterprises. It is ideal for volunteers who are interested in women’s emancipation to get involved in this project and to empower rural women.
Medical Project:
Volunteers can also help to provide medical services to the community. This is ideal for volunteers in the health fields, such as doctors and nurses. Volunteers can help out at local clinics and hospitals. SEDI also welcomes doctors who have mobile medical equipment’s and who can work in the village directly.
Care Projects:
We believe that care is something that is not too small to give. The Care Projects involve the following activities:
- Home Visits: Volunteers and staff visit families in need and get to know them better. This helps organization to get to know the needs of the community, and it also creates a ray of hope for the families. Home visiting also involves distributing basic items to the families in need and befriending the local families.
- Home-Based Care: This entails activities like cleaning the home and its surrounding and putting things in order at a particular homestead to ensure that they enjoy a good living standard. Through this activity, children with learning difficulties are monitored to assess their independence on performing certain tasks like washing, eating, etc.
Farming
Agriculture is the main economic activity in Tanzania; however, some families lack the knowledge and resources needed to support themselves effectively. Improving their agricultural skills and knowledge will greatly reduce poverty in the community.
Volunteers with a background in agriculture and animal husbandry can initiate projects to raise animals such as chicken and pigs; they can also teach better farming practices.
